Senator Square: Snow doesn't slow Carson High School activities

The Carson High School Musical Theater Concert that was canceled last week because of the snow has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Carson Community Center.

Admission is $3 or three cans of food that will be donated to the Northern Nevada Food Bank.

College scholarship season is in full swing. CHS seniors should be checking the senior newsletter - "The Guiding Light" - weekly for scholarship opportunities.

Congratulations to the National Honor Society students who participated in operation gratitude for our troops overseas.

We were able to send seven large boxes of goodies to brighten their Christmas this year.

NHS is gathering Toys for Tots again this year. Donations may be placed in the main office or guidance office at Carson High.

As our weather turns colder, National Honor Society has been gathering youth-and younger-sized coats for the school district's children in need. Thank you to all who donated this year. Many children will be much warmer due to you generosity.

The CHS talent show will be Thursday at the Carson Community Center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7.

General admission will be $4, or $3 for CHS students with a student body card. This is a fundraiser for the video and photo students, so please plan on coming to the show and help support the programs.

CHS Culinary Arts is hosting the Northern Nevada ProStart Competition from 12:30-6 p.m. Monday.

The 28 teams of four have one hour and two burners to prepare a three-course menu.

The top finishers will be heading to the Nevada State ProStart Competition in February. Carson High has brought home three straight state titles.

The public is invited to come and observe the competition. It is in the Culinary Arts area of Carson High.
