CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Republican members of the Nevada Assembly say they will return 4.6 percent of any legislative pay as of July 1 to match cuts made for state workers.

The move announced Wednesday follows a weekend report in the Reno Gazette-Journal that said Assemblyman Ed Goedhart of Amargosa Valley wrote a check to the state for $526.65.

The newspaper said it could find no record that any other legislator was following suit.

In a written statement, Assemblywoman Heidi Gansert of Reno says the Republican caucus felt it was important to "match the sacrifices being asked of others."

The give back will pertain to members of interim committees and those re-elected next year. Gansert, the Assembly minority leader, says caucus members will make voluntary refunds every six months.
