Born Dec. 13, 1983, to Clarence and Carlise Cox in Modesto, Calif. Bill was called home to the Lord on Dec. 27, 2009, at the age of 26 at his home in Gardnerville, Nev.
A viewing will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1 at FitzHenry's Funeral Home. A service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2 at the High Sierra Fellowship. Graveside services to follow at the Garden Cemetery. Friends and family welcome to attend.
Bill is survived by his loving parents and three siblings, Jesse Cox of Redford, Miss.; Barbara Meyer of Marysville, Calif.; and Ramona Cox of Las Vegas; two nephews, Henry and Joshua Cox, and niece Abbigail Meyer; grandparents Bill and Barbara Baker of Enid, Okla.; and Lillie Vigue, Modesto, Calif.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Bill's devotion to family was foremost in his life. He attended barber school in Stockton and Victorville, Calif., where he graduated and became a full-time barber at Main Street Barber, Gardnerville. He left his career to take care of his mother and father during and after his father's 21-month hospital stay. He recently began to get his life back in order and received his master barber license. Bill was in the planning stages of opening his own shop in February 2010. Bill was an active member of the Gardnerville Chapter of the 20-30 Club where he participated in many fundraising activities and charitable events.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Trust Fund, Nevada State Bank, William "Barber Bill" Cox.
Bill was loved by all of his family and will be missed. He filled a part of their lives that can never be replaced. Bill will be missed by everyone that knew him or was in contact with him or touched by his life. Bill was the type of person who could make a lifelong friend by meeting them with a pure heart, genuine spirit and true love.
