Finucci's changes hours

Because of the poor economy, Finucci's Grand Central Pizza & Pasta will be closed on Sundays for a short time in order to save on costs, according to owner Richard Finn.

"Sundays have been extremely slow for the past several weeks and we have been losing too much money just being open," Finn said in a press release. The restaurant will be open Tuesday through Saturday. They plan to open on Sundays starting April 12, or sooner if Sportsman's Warehouse opens up before then.

They are also kicking off a new "Finucci's Festive Fridays" event, which will include happy hour all day in the dining room and bar.

One sweet mixer

The Northern Nevada Development Authority and Development Dynamics will be hosting a mixer at Stoddick Estates South in Gardnerville on Friday, Feb. 6 from 5-7 p.m. This pre-Valentine's Day networking event will feature area business leaders, tasty food and plenty of great chocolate. Play It Again wins gold

The Carson City franchise of Play It Again Sports was recognized for achieving the Gold Standard.

The Gold Standard is reached when a store achieves a set of standards set forth by the franchisor during the evaluation process. The Carson City store achieved the customer satisfaction, store operations and product quality standards to earn "Gold Standard" recognition in 2009.

"Being recognized as a Gold Standard store is a very significant accomplishment, but even more, it means we're succeeding in providing our customers the best shopping experience possible," said Joseph Stein, owner of Play It Again Sports of Carson City.
