Save Mart removing additional peanut products from shelves

Save Mart Supermarkets have removed additional products containing peanut butter or peanut paste manufactured by Peanut Corporation of America from store shelves, the company announced Tuesday.

Products added Tuesday to the list of foods removed from shelves includes Keebler Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, Keebler Cheese & Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, Lofthouse Peanut Butter Cookies, Ready Pac Cool Cut Celery with Peanut Butter and Ready Pac Apples and Peanut Butter.

NOT involved in the recall is peanut butter in consumer packaging such as jars.

"The stores are complying with this recall in the interest of protecting the health and safety of our customers," Save Mart spokesman Louie Yan said in a prepared statement.

Save Mart Supermarkets include Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx.
