Mavis S. Scarff, 84, died Jan. 17, 2009 in Carson City. She was born March 8, 1924 in Portland, Ore. to Paul and Dorothy Seward. Among her survivors are husband, Howard; son Larry Scarff; daughter Lynn Berry; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private family memorial will be held. Her ashes will be scattered at sea. The Neptune Society is in charge of arrangements.
