Washoe County employees OK pay concessions

RENO " Washoe County Employee Association members have agreed to a 2.5 percent cut in hours and wages for the rest of the calendar year.

The 1,800-member labor group also agreed to forgo cost-of-living raises for the 2009-2010 fiscal year that begins July 1.

County commissioners will vote on accepting the concessions when they meet Feb. 10.

Officials say the salary cuts will save about $2 million through the end of the year.

Management employees have agreed to take the same pay cut as rank-and-file workers.
