The Chili's Grill & Bar on College Parkway in north Carson City will close Feb. 9 after being open less than two years.

Danielle Smith, corporate communications specialist for Dallas-based restaurant owner Brinker International, confirmed the closing Wednesday. The North Carson location was one of 35 nationwide to shut down. It opened its doors in April 2007 as part of the new Wal-Mart development.

Smith said that every year, they look at all of their company-owned restaurants, and using a variety of factors, are forced to "make some tough decisions" about which ones to close.

Approximately 100 employees are affected by the closing. Smith said the company always works to find jobs for their workers at their other restaurants, which include the Chili's in northern Douglas County and Reno, and the Macaroni Grill and On The Border restaurants in Reno.

Chili's will be the second restaurant this month to close. The Sizzler on North Carson Street shut down Saturday.
