Mane Connection Salon & Day Spa is celebrating its grand reopening on Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with an open house, food, drinks, gift basket giveaways, gift certificates, free five minute massages.

The salon was completely remodeled by new owner Bob Malsbury, and features a host of new services, including spray tanning, hydrofusion, permanent makeup, hair extensions and braids, pedicures and massage therapy.

Four Carson City businesses are holding grand opening events in the next two weeks. Here's the rundown:

" Feb. 10: Billow's Custom Embroidery, 2020 Highway 50 East, 10 a.m.

" Feb. 11: Essential Kneads Wellness Spa, 377 S. Nevada St., 5:15

" Feb. 12: The Wedding Emporium, inside Carson Mall, 5:15 p.m.

" Feb. 19: Able Bodies Fitness, 55 East Winnie Lane, 5:15 p.m.

All events feature refreshments and a chance to explore Carson's newest businesses.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce monthly mixer will be held at Carson Jeep Nissan, 3390 S. Carson Street on Feb. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature food, drinks and business networking opportunities.

Do you have young business professionals working for you? If they are between the ages of 21-40, sign them up to be a part of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce's Young Business Professionals. YBP meets monthly, and this month they will be networking at the Firkin & Fox on Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

Ted McBride has announced his retirement as director of operations of El Aero Services Aviation. He will remain on call- as a part time pilot for El Aero.

McBride joined El Aero Services, Inc. on Aug.17, 1972. During the years he has become a legend in the helicopter aviation community, not only for his flying skills, but also for his work ethic and extensive knowledge of the topography of this part of the world.

His career with El Aero has been expansive and varied, conducting helicopter operations including everything from fire fighting to re-seeding the land, to mine survey work and conducting sightseeing (or bird watching) tours of the Ruby Mountains, to search and rescue missions that have saved the lives of lost hikers, hunters, backpackers and aircraft accident victims.

The Better Business Bureau of Northern Nevada has selected the officers and directors of its board of directors for 2009. The officers include board chair Gary Bartlett of Gary R. Bartlett Insurance; vice chair Gilbert Grieve of Concours Body Shop; treasurer Rob McMullen of RPM Automotive, Inc.; secretary Tim Johnston of Better Business Bureau; and Immediate Past Chair Lynne Hartung of KTVN Channel 2.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce gained seven new members in January. The new members are: BNI Northern Nevada, Cherokee Scents Candle Company, L&L Hawaiian Barbeque, Redrock Family Dental, Salon Chocolat, Tahoe Douglass LLC and Lt. Bob White.

They have also signed four new members in February: Essential Kneads Wellness Spa, It's All About Me Fine Clothing, Pacific Coast Flange and Soaring NV.
