Felony charges were filed in Lyon County Tuesday against two Carson City brothers allegedly involved in an attack at a Mound House nightclub early Saturday.
Lyon County District Attorney Bob Auer charged Adrian Munoz, 22, with felony battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm to promote activities of a criminal gang and Gabriel Munoz, 31, with aiding and abetting battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm to promote activities of a criminal gang. Each also has been charged with an alternate charge of battery with a deadly weapon without substantial bodily harm.
The brothers were arrested Sunday at their parents' East Carson City home.
Gabriel Munoz was booked into the Carson City Jail on a charge of parole violation.
Adrian Munoz was booked into jail on a charge of probation violation. Both are being held without bail. They will be transferred to Lyon County Jail this week.
According to Lyon County Sheriff's Detective Jack Huizar, the Munoz brothers and a third man confronted the victim outside the NV50 nightclub after an argument inside between the man and a woman.
Witnesses reported that Adrian Munoz smashed the victim in the face with a
cinderblock while he was on the ground, and that Gabriel Munoz then kicked the victim. The man suffered broken teeth and required stitches to his head, said Huizar.
In July, Gabriel Munoz was sentenced to one year in the Carson City Jail after he lead police on a chase through town and into Indian Hills in March. He also was given a suspended year in jail on a charge of child endangerment and up to three years' probation because his son was in the car at the time.
When Munoz was sentenced, he was given credit for 55 days time served. With good-time credit, he was released from jail on Dec. 15, according to jail records.
Another brother, Cesar Munoz, was with him at the time and was sentenced to 12 to 36 months in prison for fraudulent use of a credit card.
