Glenn N. Cook

Glenn N. Cook, born April 9, 1921 in Larkin, Arkansas and died Feb. 6, 2009 in Carson City.

He was the youngest and last living sibling of eight children born to James Pinkney and Alice Newman Cook. Glenn was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Cook in 1986.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 69 years Eula; two sons Tom and Sam (Sue) Cook, of Carson City; two grandchildren William G. Cook and Kristi L. Cook residing in the Imperial Valley along with two great-granddaughters, Amber and Ashley Cook and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn migrated to the Imperial Valley of Southern California in about 1936, where he met his future wife Eula R. Grice. They were married on Feb. 16, 1940 in Yuma, Ariz. The Imperial Valley was home to them until 1988, when they moved to Carson City.

During his lifetime, Glenn was a diesel mechanic working on heavy-duty equipment for some 24 years, a television technician and shop owner for 20 years and a golf course superintendent for about three years before moving to Carson City. In Carson City he often drove one of the shuttle buses for the Ormsby House Hotel and Casino.

Glenn was a 62-year member of the B.P.O Elks of El Centro, California and a 12-year member of the Carson City American Legion.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Monday at Autumn Funerals & Cremations, 1575 N. Lompa Lane.
