Martina Garcia-Ponce, 97, passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, peacefully in her home. She was born to Justa Ponce and Juan Garcia July 29, 1911 in Honduras.
Martina is survived by her daughters Rosa Robertson, Mercedes Jessmer, Albertina Espinoza, and Adelina Rivera and sons Jose Antonio Oviedo, Luis Velasquez and Manuel Garcia. She is also survived by 52 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren.
Martina was a wonderful Mother, grandmother and friend to everyone. She will be greatly missed for her love of cooking tamales, tortillas, aroz con leche and beans. Martina was also very devoted to the Lord and her Bible.
A viewing will 6-10 p.m., Sunday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home, 3945 Fairview Drive, Carson City.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home. Burial will follow at noon at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
