Snow likely in Carson City today

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:41 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for 4-wheel drive vehicles for 49.2 miles between Colfax and Central Truckee, Calif.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 9.2 miles between 5 miles north of SR 28 and 10.3 miles south of Highway 395.

Weather for the Carson City area for Friday will be snow in the morning with snow likely in the afternoon with accumulation of up to 2 inches. Highs 31-41 with south winds 10-15 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight, cloudy with scattered snow showers. Lows 14-24 with southwest winds 10-15 mph.

Saturday, mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Highs 30-40 with light winds.

Sunday, brisk with snow likely in the morning with snow and rain likely in the afternoon. Highs 32-42 with south winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays. There is continued work on Fairview Drive from South Edmonds to South Carson Street with lane closures and possible delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
