Amateur radio testing available
Regularly scheduled testing sessions for Amateur Radio Licenses are available in Stagecoach.
The next session will be today. Registration is 8-10 a.m. The testing will end around noon. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not mandatory.
Other exams will be April 11, June 13, Aug. 8, Oct. 10 and Dec. 12.
The exam fee is $15. Make checks to ARRL-VEC. Testing will take place at 8755 Cimarron Trail. Take Apache north off U.S. 50 and drive approximately 1 mile to the intersection of Apache and Cimarron.
If you are upgrading an existing license, bring your original license and a photocopy, as well as the originals of any CSCEs you may have. Bring photocopies, as copying facilities are not available on site.

Southbound Stewart Street closed Feb. 28
The southbound lane of Roop Street between Highway 50 and Long Street will be closed Feb. 28 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to relocate utilities for the Stewart Street extension.
The $5.6 million extension will eventually run about two miles from Carson Street until it connects with Roop Street just past Dan Street. It is expected to be finished in the fall.
Dayton dog park committee to meet
The Dayton Valley Dog Park Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the community room of the Greater Nevada Credit Union, 555 Highway 50 East in Dayton.
The committee will discuss fundraising and a possible location for the park on Old Dayton Valley Road.

Reno police arrest 2 in home burglaries
RENO (AP) " Reno police say they've arrested two people suspected in a string or residential burglaries.
Police say Teddy Rose Ferris, 20, and Launie Merritt, 27, were seen ringing door bells in the area of 12th and Ralston streets, and entered one that was unoccupied.
Investigators say they were in the home for about an hour, and were arrested Thursday when they emerged with bags filled with stolen property. They were booked on suspicion of residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
