Flag Day Ceremony on Capitol Grounds

Join the Nevada National Guard in paying tribute to the United States Flag in the annual Flag Day Ceremony and celebration of the 234th birthday of the U.S. Army, 10 a.m., Friday, June 12 at the Veterans Memorial Wall on the Capitol Grounds. Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell will give the keynote speech; Army Guard Col. Michael Carlson will speak on the 234th birthday of the Army. A static display of Tri historical U.S. flags will be at the event. The U.S. Army recruiting station will provide Army birthday cake.

Sierra Vet Hospital sponsors rummage sale for Relay for Life

Sierra Vet Hospital sponsors a rummage sale 7 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 1477 N. Saliman Road. Proceeds benefit Relay for Life. Rummage sale, pet adoptions, hot dogs and soda, fun and games. For information, call 883-0261.

Amateur Radio License testing

Regularly scheduled testing sessions for Amateur Radio Licenses are available in Stagecoach. The next session will be Saturday, June 13 at 8755 Cimarron Trail. Registration is 8-10 a.m. The testing will end around noon. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not mandatory. The exam fee is $15. Make checks to ARRL-VEC. Testing will take place at Take Apache north off U.S. 50 and drive approximately 1 mile to the intersection of Apache and Cimarron. If you are upgrading an existing license, bring your original license and a photocopy, as well as the originals of any CSCEs you may have. For information, email ac6fu@arrl.net or call 577-2637.

Coupons for Senior Farmer's Market sign up

Applications for free coupons for fresh fruit and vegetables for low-income seniors through the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program are available now at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive and RSVP Carson City office, 3303 Butti Way, Building 1. The coupons will be distributed 8-11 a.m., Wednesday, June 17 in the lobby of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street. Each coupon book contains 15 $2 coupons to be used at the Farmer's Market. An individual eligible senior with an income not exceeding $20,036 annually will receive one book. An eligible senior couple whose combined income does not exceed $26,955 can receive 2 books (one each). The Carson City Farmer's Market is open 3-7 p.m. every Wednesday beginning June 17 at the Pony Express Pavilion in Mills Park. For information, call 687-4680, ext. 10.
