Masuko "Suzy" Baker

Masuko (Suzy) Baker 78, passed away Dec. 14, 2008 and joined her beloved husband William Thomas Baker.

She was a long-time resident of Stateline Lake Tahoe and Carson City coming from her native country of Japan and became a proud United States citizen in 1969

Masuko was first of eight children born March 7, 1930 to Hisao and Haruko Takahara of Nagoya Japan.

As her late husband Bill, Masuko was humble, hard working individual and was loved and respected by many people who had known her for many years through former Sierra Tahoe Resort where she was employed and from the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course where she played golf while living in Stateline.

Despite the ailments she had to endure from having asthmatic condition for most of her adult life, she managed to take up on learning to play golf at the age of 44 and enjoyed milling around well into her last years.

In 1984, at age 54, she became only the second member of the Edgewood Tahoe Ladies Club to score hole-in-one.

Masuko is survived by daughter Carolyn Christensen and son-in-law Todd of Reno; three brothers and three sisters Chikamasa Takahara, Akiko Nakashima, Kazuhisa Takahara, Masako Takahara, Shigeru Takahara, Reiko Asano, their spouses all of Japan and twelve nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Thomas Baker, her parents and sister Yooko Takahara.

She was laid to rest beside her husband William Thomas Baker at the Eastside Memorial Park, Minden Monday. Her memorial will be held at later date.
