Community members have until Tuesday to bid on a custom-made motorcycle built in Incline Village High School's shop class.

The Industrial Arts program is auctioning off a Paramount Custom Cycles 2008 Roadster on purplewave.com as a fund-raiser for the school. As of Thursday afternoon, the highest bid was at $7,400. Bidding ends at 10 a.m. Tuesday

The motorcycle was built with a grant written by Brian Thornton, the school's industrial arts teacher.

Thornton and his 2007-2008 students participated in a rigorous program that took them through the dimensions of design, material selection, manufacture and marketing the cycle. Paramount Custom Cycles finished and tested the bike.

In order to participate in this grant program again, the industrial arts program must recoup their grant money by selling the custom cycle.

Questions about the motorcycle, or other school auction items, can be directed to Purple Wave Auction, 5853 S. Carson St., 461-0081.
