Carson City woman sent to prison for theft again

A Carson City woman was sentenced to prison Tuesday, just 11 months after being released from prison on a similar charge.

Judge Jim Wilson ordered Mary Louise Reasoner, 32, to spend 12 to 34 months behind bars for attempted possession of stolen property.

In November, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper found a stolen utility trailer on Morgan Mill Road and thousands of dollars in tools, appliances and antiques.

Witnesses directed officers to a nearby rental property where they found Reasoner with items stolen from a neighboring home, according to police records.

Reasoner and another resident of the house were arrested.

She pleaded guilty to the charge in January.

Reasoner has been previously convicted three times of theft-related felony crimes.

In 2001, she was convicted of theft and received probation. In 2002, she was convicted of embezzlement and again received probation.

In March of 2007, she stood trial for burglary after video surveillance caught her breaking into and stealing items from a Carson City storage facility.

She was convicted and received 12 to 30 months in prison in that case.

Her sentence had expired by the time she was arrested in this case.

Reasoner also was the focus of a Nevada Appeal five-day series in which she had intended to get clean from methamphetamine, but ultimately continued to use up until she went to prison.
