Windy and cloudy for Carson City today

Weather for the Carson City area today will be mostly cloudy with highs 49-59 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain and snow in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow after midnight; snow level 5500 to 6000 feet. Lows 30-40 with southwest winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph after midnight.

Thursday, windy and mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow in the morning then clearing in the afternoon. Snow level 5500 to 6000 feet. Highs 49-59 with southwest winds 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:51 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " High wind warning: Campers and trailers are prohibited for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch in Washoe Valley.

U.S. Highway 50 " Chains required except for 4-wheel-drive vehicles for 11 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 4.1 miles west of SR 89, California.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
