FALLON " The Nevada Highway Patrol says the man killed in an accident on a rural highway has been identified as 67-year-old Robert Vangutman.
The NHP says a preliminary investigation reveals Vangutman was speeding in a 1999 Cadillac Escalade on Tuesday when he blew a stop sign and tried to turn right on U.S. 95 near Pasture Road in Fallon.
Investigators say he was traveling too fast to make the turn. The vehicle skidded across the road and came to rest near a ditch.
Vangutman was flown to a Reno hospital where he died.
