Teanna Calloway, 6, of Carson City, shows off the trout her uncle caught Thursday morning at Topaz Lake, south of Gardnerville. One relative said fishing on opening day at Topaz has been a family tradition for at least 35 years. Following another family tradition, Calloway kissed the fish when it was caught in hopes of bringing the fishermen good luck for the rest of the day.
