Hundreds take to Topaz Lake for opening day of fishing

Armed with chocolate doughnuts, hot chocolate and her fishing pole, Avery Ogan celebrates her sixth birthday Friday by fishing at Topaz Lake with her brother Mason, 10, and dad Matt. Like many of the hundreds of fishermen at the lake for the opening day of the fishing season, the Ogans, of Topaz Ranch Estates, said it's a long-standing family tradition for New Year's Day.
