Nineteen people were arrested in the casino core of Stateline during News Year's Eve celebrations, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Charges included disorderly conduct, trespassing, affray, battery, battery on a peace officer, narcotics violations, and civil protective custody, according to Sgt. Jim Halsey.

"The New Years Eve celebration in the casino core area of Stateline went extremely well, with no major incidents reported," he said in a statement. "The celebratory crowd seemed no larger than in past years. U.S. Highway 50 was closed to vehicle traffic at about 9:30 p.m. to allow celebrants to flow into the roadway as they celebrated the coming of the New Year. The highway was reopened at approximately 1 a.m. after the crowds peacefully moved off the street and back into the casinos or other locales."

There were three people arrested for driving under the influence outside of the casino core area.

Halsey said Carson Valley reported one arrest for trespassing, one arrest for domestic battery, and one arrest for DUI.
