Marie E. Morehouse, 90, Carson City resident since 1983 passed away Jan. 1, 2009 at the Evergreen Care Center.

She was born Nov. 15, 1918 in Denton, Texas to Margaret and James Harrison Solomon.

Marie attended the women's college in Denton and was active as an Eastern Star. She moved to Los Angeles after World War II and raised two daughters while working for Zellerback Paper Company. Marie enjoyed meeting new people, volunteering her time with the Adult Literacy Program at the community college, and helping at the hospital. Marie was a great cook, an avid reader, and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed for her gracious with and charm.

Among her survivors are many loving relatives, her husband Jacob Morehouse of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Roy Christofferson of Virginia City, Margaret and Lee Smith of Washoe Valley; grandson Lyle Smith and wife Jill, grandson Joshua Mosshart and wife Arlene, granddaughter Debbie Odegaard and husband Steve, and numerous great-grandchildren. Marie also leaves a sister Gussie of Frederick, Okla., and many nieces and nephews.

She will be buried at the Dayton Valley Cemetery near her sister Mary. A private family ceremony will be held.
