Lynn Carol Swisher, 69, of Carson City, passed away on Jan. 7, 2009 in her home in Carson City, surrounded by family and friends, after a long illness.

She was born Feb. 26, 1939 in Green Bay Wisc. to Clinton A. and Caroline M. VanNatta, the oldest of two sisters.

Lynn went to high school and college in Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago, where she met her first husband, Lt. Commander Theodore E. Oliverio (deceased May 1970), with whom she had two children, Victoria (deceased March 2006) and Theodore, II.

After Theodore's death, Lynn raised her children in Green Bay, Wisc. where she was employed as a Secretary for Wisconsin Public Service Corp and was active in Atonement Lutheran church.

She moved to Tracy, Calif. and married Leonard E. Swisher, a long time friend of the family, in 1992. They moved to Carson City, in 1996.

Lynn enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework and was an avid dog fancier, even raising German shepherds in the early 1970s. She was a member of the Columbia River Newfoundland Club, and accompanied her Newfie, Misty, to several shows and club outings.

She also enjoyed traveling, taking several ocean cruises with Leonard and was active with the Carson City Road Runners R.V. club.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Theodore; and daughter, Victoria.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard E. Swisher; son, Theodore II and his wife, Vicki; granddaughter Jessica and her mother, Mary; sister Mary and her husband, John, their children Kristen, John and Eric and their families. She also leaves behind her stepchildren Michael, Lynda and Cindy and five step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lynn's family will hold an informal gathering at home, 420 Cambridge Court, on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 11 a.m.=3 p.m.. Another memorial will be held in Madison Wisconsin (near surviving relatives) later this spring. Her cremains will be interned with her first husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Ill.
