John Palmer Nye III

In Loving Memory of John Palmer Nye III

Born in Rapid City, South Dakota Sept. 23, 1941, to Florence Kathryn Dixon and John Palmer Nye II. John graduated from Central High and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. John enjoyed sports, square dancing, camping and fishing with family and friends. John met Carol Jean Lee Williams in Wyoming and they married December 4, 1981. They moved to Sparks in 1982. John was employed by Nevada Department of Prisons and retired from the Nevada Department of Taxation as a Revenue Officer, with 20 years of state service. Together Carol and John started a successful business.

John passed away Dec. 25, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving him are wife Carol; mother Florence; sister Kay; three sons John, Gary, Steve and stepdaughters Pam, Peggy, Vicky, and Julie. John was affectionately referred to as Papa John, to 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

A celebration of John's life will be held at a later date.
