Kenneth V. Plummer

Ken was born in Alameda, Calif. to Kenneth V. Plummer and Ina Gertrude Martin. He lived in California with his parents until the death of his mother when he was 5 years old. At that time he moved to Carson City, his mother's hometown, where his aunt, Annie Hudnall Martin, raised him until her death when he was 14 years old.

He returned to California where he completed his education. During his high school years he spent his summers working in Hobart Mills where he met his future wife, Ethel. They were married May 18, 1933 in Fallon. Shortly thereafter he began his career with the Western Pacific Railroad. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he volunteered with the 507th Paratrooper Company, 82nd Airborne Division. He jumped into France on D-Day, was wounded in action and spent the next 11 months as a prisoner of war in Germany.

After the war he enjoyed a long and prosperous career as an executive with the Western Pacific Railroad in San Francisco, California. When he retired, he and Ethel spent several years living in their summer home at Lake Tahoe. In 1980 they moved back to Carson City. He enjoyed RVing, golfing, hunting, flying and was an avid Stanford and 49er fan.

He is survived by Ethel, his wife of 75 years, his daughter, Susanne Mund of Carson City, his granddaughters, Kirsten Bailey of Kiley, Texas and Marta Stagliano of Carson City, great-granddaughter, Heather Bailey of Austin, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Services for the immediate family were held in accordance with Ken's wishes.
