LAS VEGAS " The military says a 31-year-old soldier from Nevada has died in a helicopter accident in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department announced Friday that Army Spc. Ezra Dawson of Las Vegas died Jan. 17 when the Chinook helicopter he was in made a hard landing under combat conditions in Konar Province.
Military officials say the accident is being investigated.
Dawson was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
