INCLINE VILLAGE -- An Incline High School teacher was found dead in his vehicle in the parking lot of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center this morning.

School Principal John Clark made the announcement to to students this

morning.

Valerie Jackson, an administrative assistant at Incline High, said the

school realized something was wrong at about 7 a.m. Tuesday when Harvey, 65,

didn't appear for school.

"We knew something was up because he's very conscientious," Jackson said.

She said repeated calls to Harvey went unanswered and the school had no idea

of his whereabouts until about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the Carson City

coroner called to say Harvey had been found dead by a security officer in his car in the hospital parking lot at 7:06 a.m.

A cause of death is unknown at this time.

"He was such a kind and generous person who was willing to help out anyone

at any time," Jackson said. "It's a terrible loss for the students, the faculty, the school in general. In the short time he was here he had a huge impact on the music program and was really turning it around."

Clark announced the loss to the school before the end of the day, saying the school's counselors will be available to students and faculty in need of grief counseling.
