State prison commissioners made an official visit to the institution yesterday. Their praise of the manner in which that model prison is conducted under the administration of General Batterman, are loud. The business of the prison, both by attaches and convicts, is conducted with clock-like precision.

Mine signal codes have been drawn up for use in the state. One bell for hoist, one bell for stop (when in motion).

Two bells to lover, three bells men in car. Four bells blasting signal, engineer must answer by raising bucket a few feet and letting it back slowly. Then one bell hoists men away from the blast. Nine bells, danger signal.

The rank of Page will be conferred on several candidates at the meeting of the Knights of Pythias lodge in Virginia City July 1st. The rank of Esquire will be conferred on July 8th.

The class will receive the rank of Knight the evening of the 15th. Knights of Reno and Carson will assist with the degrees.

Jay Flint, manager of Union Federal Savings and Loan was nominated today to succeed Charles (Chuck) Leonard as president of the Carson City chamber of commerce.
