Every morning I wake up, there is something completely crazy going on in this wonderful world of ours.

There are always stupid people doing stupid things, and doing them poorly at that. May I also remind you that these people are in the minority, yet their errors in judgment grossly outweigh the majority of people with good judgment.

Why is it people do these things? Are they so swayed by the merest passions of anger, greed and jealousy that they'd do something the rest of our community would consider nuts? If so, then why? I believe it's the former rather than the latter. Regardless of a person's surroundings, people do absolutely moronic things.

We need to start watching not what our children say, but what we say, what we watch and listen to. We all need to remind ourselves of the old mantra, "Garbage in, Garbage out" and bring it to bear on our hearts and minds. My biggest grievance, to go on a tangent with modern society, is the focus on outside appearance.

We watch all sorts of things that focus on athletics, or beauty, whether we realize it or not, and the young ones around us pick up on that. Then we hear about the young girl with an eating disorder because no matter what she does, how she acts, she will always see herself as ugly, and having to apply all these chemicals to the body. God made everyone beautiful. Turn your life to God and be sane.

I would like to thank the sponsors of the fireworks show Saturday night.

Compared with last year's fiasco, this show, in my opinion, was one of the best shows that I've seen in Carson City in the almost 20 years I've lived here.

It was entertaining for the whole family as well as the individual. My wife and I had a great time watching, and the families and their children across the street were having a blast!

Again ... kudos, and let's hope you can do it again next year.
