Tuesday

Gold Hill Hotel's Tuesday night lecture, 5-10 p.m., Robin Holabird will speak on space aliens and Area 51, and Nevada movies. This includes a power point presentation and video. A buffet is available from 5-7 p.m. with the lecture at 7:30 for $15. The lecture only is $5. Call 775-847-0111.

Goals and Transitions Summer Seminar from 12 - 2 p.m. at Ron Wood Family Resource Center, 212 E. Winnie Lane. Summer seminars are designed for people in their late teens to early 20s who are transitioning into the working world. Topics include setting goals in attainable ways, budgeting, communication, job searching, apartment searching, and more. Auditions for the Proscenium Players' first show of the 2009-2010 season, "Our Town" will start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the board room at the Children's Museum of NN, 813 N. Carson St., Carson City. "Our Town" is directed by Jason Macy and produced by Pat Josten. Production dates are weekends Oct. 2-17 on the stage at the Children's Museum.

Exhibits & Museums

The Art of Nature, Upper Middle Gallery of the Nevada State Museum through August 2009. Photographs, sketches and paintings by wildlife artist, naturalist and river guide, Sharon K. Schafer. "Always Lost: A Meditation on War," a free exhibit that pairs photos of more than 4,100 servicemembers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan with creative writing pieces. "Summer Show" presented by the Nevada Artists Association, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Brewery Arts Center, 449 King St. Exhibit celebrates and features the paintings, sculptures, photographs, fine crafts and jewelry of regional and local artists. Visit nevadaartists.org.

WNC Davis Observatory Celebration, 7-10 p.m., Jack C. Davis Observatory, 2201 W. College Parkway, Carson City. A year-long celebration as the International Year of Astronomy includes a free star party and astronomical lecture at the observatory every Saturday evening throughout 2009. 775-445-3000.
