Carson City

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court:

• Melissa Dawn Howell, 29, a fast food worker from Carson City, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. at the jail after being brought in from Douglas County on suspicion of felony uttering a forged instrument and misdemeanor obtaining money under false pretenses. She allegedly cashed a stolen $21 check. Bail was set at $5,000.

• A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of misdemeanor contempt of court. Bail was set at $500.

• A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Thursday at Highway 395 and Hot Springs Road on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $1,000.

• A 20-year-old unemployed Carson City man was arrested at 12:15 a.m. Thursday at Sedge and Deer Run roads on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence, minor consuming alcohol, driving without a valid license and contempt of court. Bail was set at $2,056.

The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Wednesday:

• Report of a vehicle "fully engulfed" in flames in the 1000 block of East Fifth Street at 1:14 a.m.

• Coroner call at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at 3:55 a.m.

• A Radio Shack employee reported at 10:58 a.m. when a store clerk spotted a shoplifter and followed the suspect outside, the suspect hit the clerk with his car as he fled.

• A laptop was reported stolen from the 300 block of North Stewart Street at 3:48 p.m.

• Report of a window busted and a purse stolen from a vehicle parked near Chimney Beach at 6:02 p.m.

Lyon County

The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Wednesday:

• Vehicle in a ditch on Highway 50 East in Dayton at 2:41 a.m.

• Report of DVD player and other items stolen from a home on Winnemucca Street in Silver Springs sometime while the owner was in the hospital.

• Report of two drunken men fighting, then one man urinating in public, and both holding up a sign that they are broke down and need money, on Pilot Drive in Fernley at 11:16 a.m.

• A Fernley father reported his daughter had sex with an 18-year-old boy.

• A motorcyclist following a drunken driving, flagged the man down, then took away the driver's keys and called police. A misdemeanor drunken driving arrest was made at 9:14 p.m. on Highway 208 in Mason Valley.

Storey County

The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Wednesday:

• Report of a "chronic" barking dog on North A Street at 5:59 p.m.
