Rich Ronning of Douglas County is a regular at Carson City's Silver Dollar Car Classic and Hot August Nights.

"It's an all-around fun event that you can bring the whole family."

This year Ronning is entering his midnight blue 1963 Pontiac convertible in the Silver Dollar Show 'n' Shine.

"I bring a different car to each event. Last year it was my '37 Chevy pickup," Ronning said.

Ronning also owns a brilliant blue '69 Camaro, a '70 El Camino and a '52 Cadillac, which he is in the process of restoring.

He says local car events are a good way to catch up with old friends and make new contacts for classic car parts.

"I'm looking forward to it," said Ronning. "I'll go from (Silver Dollar Car Classic) to Hot August Nights and then to Gardnerville."

In Gardnerville, a classic car party runs Aug. 14-16, with a Friday night street dance and barbecue; Saturday classic car show, vendors and food at Lampe Park and a car corral for buying and selling vehicles.
