Carson City resident Ann Lee Fortier died after a short illness on May 30, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are being handled by the Neptune Society and an interment service is scheduled for a later date at Lone Mountain Cemetery.
Born Annie Lee Manning July 24, 1933, in Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Fortier was adopted by the Drury family when she was seven. She served in the United States Marine Corps, where she met her future husband, Gilbert Fortier.
Married May 28, 1955, in Carson City, the Fortiers had three children and made their home in Carson City. Mrs. Fortier retired from the State of Nevada, where she worked as a data entry clerk. Mrs. Fortier enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing, and was an avid reader with a special love of Nevada history. She was involved with the Lions Club and was especially fond of her friends in the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Fortier was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Fortier, her son Michael Fortier, and her grandson, Jason Peterson.
She is survived by her daughters Donna Peterson of Kenai, Alaska, and Sharon Hicks of Carson City; grandchildren Vincent Irvin, Augusta Irvin, and Jamie Peterson; and three great-grandchildren, Louie, Lily, and Annabelle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Fortier's name to the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada 813 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada.
