Arrested for Opium Smoking: Late Friday Officers Ingraham, Duncan and Powers arrested three men and a woman, who recently came in from Bodie, in a house on Nevada Street between 3rd and 4th streets, for smoking opium. The woman was examined privately yesterday afternoon, the result of which has not been made public. The three men were arraigned before Judge Cary last evening. Their trials were set for tomorrow with bail fixed at $200 each.

The Way to Rest: A Carson City man who shall be nameless, has rigged an apparatus he will take to Lake Tahoe with him on his vacation. He intends to camp near the shore and to fish with a set line, one end of which is attached to a bell alarm. He says he will remain in bed and that whenever a fish hooks himself and rings the bell, he will get up, haul him in, make a meal, re-bait the hook, and return to bed. As a weary Willie stunt, this has most of them beaten to a pulp.

A Carson City man was arrested when he attempted to enter the courthouse portion of the new public safety complex and a marijuana cigarette fell out of his pocket when he went through the metal detector.
