Shirley Martel, 63, died unexpectedly in her home June 2, 2009. Shirley was born in Lodi, Calif., July 25, 1945, and has lived in the Carson City and Silver Springs area for the last 32 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cared deeply about her family, friends and foster children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and love her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
Among her survivors are her husband of 45 years Donald; her three children Glen, Dean and Sara Martel; four grandchildren Anastasia, Abigayle, Tristan and Jacob Martel and four brothers and sisters Howard Wister, Sigrid Pratt, Dennis Wister, and Louis Fanucchi; and their families to include 14 nieces and nephews, 24 great nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Hwy 50 East, Silver Springs.
