Dolores Ann Whitworth 80, a 36-year resident of Carson City, passed peacefully May 27, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. She had been in failing health for the past few years.

Dolores was born May 27, 1929 to Walter and Lillian Shafer, both now deceased, in Detroit Mich. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Michigan until graduation. She helped with the family theater business until meeting her first husband, Garrett Sissom. They had three children; Gary, Mike and Vicki. After a divorce, Dolores went back to work full time running the bookkeeping department for the family business. A few years later she met and married William J. Allen and had her fourth and last child Cheryl.

In 1973 she purchased the Mill House Inn, and moved to Carson City. After selling the motel and marrying her lifelong friend G. William Whitworth, they traveled and watched their grandchildren and Great-grandchildren grow up. She will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Jack and Martin Shafer, and her son Michael Sissom.

Dolores is survived by one fantastic brother Charles L. Shafer; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Karol Sissom of Livonia, Mich.; daughter Vicki Lucky of Carson City and daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and John Warren of Gardnerville; grandchildren Gary Jr. and Michelle Sissom of Spanish Springs, Nev., Jesse and Jillian Sissom of Livonia, Mich., Jennifer and Richard Austin of Carson City, Anthony Dudley of Carson City and Cassandra Warren of Gardnerville; great-grandchildren Sabrina, Karina and Anthony of Spanish Springs and Samantha and Dakota of Carson City.

A casual memorial was held Saturday, June 6 at Autumn Funerals and Cremations.
