A pedestrian killed late Sunday night as he crossed Highway 395 north of Clearview Drive has been identified as Eric Pryor, 49.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Pryor was running across the road's six-lanes when he was struck in the northbound slow lane by a 2004 GMC pickup driven by Joseph Labranch, 27, of Carson City.
Labranch submitted to a voluntary blood draw and is believed to have been going the speed limit in the 45 mph zone directly in front of the McDonald's.
Trooper Chuck Allen said Labranch told troopers he saw Pryor running at the last minute, and attempted to stop. But it was too late, said Allen.
Pryor was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Carson City coroner located Pryor's wife at her job in Lake Tahoe on Monday afternoon and informed her of her husband's death, said Sheriff Ken Furlong.
