Western Nevada College players Jeremy Gendlek and Mike Stiles played big roles in the Nevada Bighorns summer college baseball team winning the nightcap of a doubleheader against the San Francisco Seagulls on Saturday at John L. Harvey Field.

Gendlek pitched a complete game in the 5-3 win after the Bighorns suffered a 6-5 loss in the opener. Gendlek struck out nine, walked one and allowed six hits in the game that was called after six innings due to darkness.

Stiles went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Also offensively for the Bighorns,

Royal Good hit a two-run triple, Sam Feiner went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Sean Costella and Jeff Young each added a hit.

In the opener, Ray Barratt went 2-for-2, Matt Winter hit an RBI triple, Shane Kockenmeister had a hit and an RBI and Travis Ice, Eric Maupin, Brett Lisher, Feiner and Young all added a hit for the Bighorns.

The doubleheader didn't begin until 3 p.m. so members of the Bighorns' team could visit the Shriners Hospital in the Bay Area. Bighorns coach Dennis Young said the trip was an emotional experience for his players and the children at the hospital.

"That was pretty impressive," Young said. "The kids (at the hospital) were pretty touched by it. It was very nice."
