SPARKS, Nev (AP) - The pace is swift at the Legends at Sparks Marina as crews scramble to put the finishing touches on the retail and entertainment development before 24 new stores open on Thursday.
It's the grand opening of the first phase of the $1.1 billion shopping complex being built by RED Development.
Cold, rainy weather for much of June slowed progress, but officials authorized 1,000 hours daily of overtime for construction crews to finish on time.
And project manager Dennis McGovern says it will be ready.
By mid summer, officials say 47 stores and restaurants should be open, 37 of which will be new to the Reno-Sparks market.
