A Growl: We yesterday heard a loud growl from a San Francisco gentleman, who was charged fifty cents for riding in the omnibus from the depot to Ormsby House. The charge was really exorbitant; under these circumstances it is not at all surprising that people from abroad are afraid to come here.

The wax figure of John Ericsson, inventor of the cheese box monitor, used a large block of wood as a pillow to rest his tired head after spending days and nights in his study.
