Airports receive stimulus funds

Carson City Airport and Reno-Tahoe Airport will receive $1.2 million from the economic recovery package for airport rehabilitation, according to Sen. Harry Reid's office.

This funding is being released from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Transit Authority, and will go towards rehabilitating the runway and taxiway in Carson City and the apron at Reno-Tahoe International.


Carson City receives tourism grant

The Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau received $14,000 in grants from the Nevada Commission on Tourism. It will use the money to advertise its "Divine Nine" golf-oriented tourism effort, advertising for the Brewery Arts Center and to market Carson City and Virginia City to key California markets.


Young Business Professionals meet

The Young Business Professionals of Carson City will hold their monthly networking event on the veranda at Adele's Restaurant on June 30 at 7 p.m. Cost is $5.


Grand opening events scheduled

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce announced two upcoming grand opening celebrations for local businesses:

• 5:15 p.m. Thursday, July 2: Twisted Spoke Bar & Grill at 3198 North Deer Run Road (Just off Highway 50 and Deer Run, formerly Four Pints). Drink specials and food. This is a non-smoking facility.

• 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Bella Salon & Spa's new location, 1910 College Parkway, with refreshments and giveaways.


Lake Tahoe mixer planned

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce will host a special mixer at the Harbor House, 2005 Highway 28, in Incline Village from 5-7 p.m. on July 15. The chamber will have a 60-passenger bus to transport people to and from the event. Cost is $10. RSVPs required. Call 882-1565 for more information.
