The Division of Museums and History is reducing hours because of budget cuts mandated by the governor and Legislature.

The division was one of the hardest hit by budget cuts this past session with weekly work hours cut from 40 to 32 for the 57 museum employees.

As a result, all four major museums are going to a four-day week, including the Nevada State Museum and Railroad Museum in Carson City.

The new schedules for each of the museums, effective July 6:

• Nevada State Museum, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

• Nevada Railroad Museum, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday through Monday.

• Nevada Historical Society, Reno, Wednesday through Saturday with galleries open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and the research library noon-4:30 p.m.

• East Ely Railroad Depot Museum, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
