Three people were injured this morning on Highway 28 near the junction with Highway 50 West.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said that a gold Chrysler mini-van was southbound on Highway 28 when the driver lost control and crossed the center line into the path of a northbound UPS truck driven by Gary Kvasnicka, 52 of Minden, at 10:15 a.m.

The mini-van driver, Manuel Sanchez, 32 of Tahoe Vista, Calif., suffered a serious head injury.

Van passenger, Jovani Sanchez, 20, and UPS driver Kvasnicka suffered minor injuries, said Allen.

A Care Flight helicopter landed near the Park-and-Ride parking lot on Spooner Summit and took the mini-van driver and passenger to Renown Regional Medical Center.

Kvasnicka was taken by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.
