Carson City investigators are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who drove off after her dog bit a woman walking a poodle.

Detective Bob Motamenpour said an employee of the Community Counseling Center was walking another employee's dog on Feb. 24 behind the Greater Nevada Credit Union on Second Street. A female in a black Chevy pickup parked her truck, left the driver's door open and walked over to the drive-through ATM to make a transaction.

While the woman was using the ATM, her "large black" dog jumped from the vehicle and went after the 5-pound poodle and walker.

"The victim picked up her dog and started to scream at the (approaching) dog and the female suspect. The video shows the suspect looks over to the direction of the attack," said Motamenpour.

The larger dog bit the victim on the hand and grabbed the poodle on the back, nearly breaking its spine, said Motamenpour.

The woman at the ATM called her dog, got into her truck and was attempting to leave when the victim stood in front of the truck, said Motamenpour.

"The victim showed her bloody hand as well as the bleeding dog in her arms. At this time, the suspect rolled up her window and sped away from the location," he said.

Motamenpour said the poodle, named Abu, was rushed to the vet. Despite the severity of six deep wounds to his back, he survived.

The victim was treated at Urgent Care for the dog bites and on Thursday began a 14-day series of rabies shots.

"If I can identify this woman, even if the victim is halfway through the painful rabies treatment, I can always call her to stop them if we can determine that the dog had the rabies shot," he said. "It's a very painful process."

Motamenpour said although the woman used the ATM, she withdrew money off of an anonymous prepaid credit card that cannot be tracked.

Anyone with information is asked to call Motamenpour at 887-2020 ext. 41405.
