A Mound House woman has admitted it was her image captured on an ATM surveillance camera just before her dog attacked a poodle and another woman in February.

Detective Bob Motamenpour said the 67-year-old woman contacted investigators and provided paperwork to prove that her dog was up-to-date on his rabies vaccination.

"She said she didn't see what happened and that she doesn't remember the woman showing her the bloody dog. But she admitted leaving," said Motamenpour.

The victim was walking the 5-pound poodle on Feb. 24 behind Greater Nevada Credit Union on Fourth Street when an 80-pound German shepherd mix jumped from a pickup and attacked.

The victim suffered bite wounds to her hand, and the poodle, named Abu, sustained serious injuries. He has since recovered.

The victim told police that when she tried to get the dog owner to exchange information, the woman rolled her window up and drove off.

Motamenpour said the attacking dog's rabies certification has saved the victim from continuing painful rabies treatment.

He said the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for a review on possible charges.
