NNDA 'Alphabet Soup' reception March 11

Northern Nevada Development Authority is hosting an "Alphabet Soup" reception on March 11 from 4-7 p.m. at the NNDA office, 704 West Nye Lane, Suite 201.

The event will provide business representatives seeking resources of all kinds to visit with resource providers, including but not limited to representatives from: SBA, SCORE, UNR Small Business Development Center, Management Assistance Partnership, WNC, USDA, NV State Development Corporation and many more.

Young Business Professionals meet

Western Nevada College professor Bob Morin, Ph.D., will be the guest speaker at the Carson City Young Business Professionals meeting on Tuesday, March 24, from 5-7 p.m. at the Wells Fargo main branch, 2424 South Carson Street. BAWNR wins Founding Achievement Award

The Builders Association of Western Nevada Remodeler's Council (BAWNR) earned the Founding Achievement Award at the International Builders Show on Jan. 21, in recognition of launching a local council to support professional remodelers.

Local Remodelers Councils serve to enhance professionalism, training, and business opportunities for NAHB Members who remodel.

"Remodelers improve and maintain American homes to make them more beautiful, comfortable, and resource efficient," said Greg Midema, the National Chair of the NAHB Remodelers Council. "The local councils are vital for supporting the best and the brightest of the industry, so we're thrilled to have more locals join our ranks.

Learning about lead paint

The Builders Association of Western Nevada Remodeler's Council (BAWNR) will host a new EPA Lead Paint Law seminar on March 26 at 3 p.m. at the BAWN Office, located at 806 Randell Drive in Carson City.

NNDA breakfast features talk on banks and money

The Northern Nevada Development Authority's monthly membership breakfast on March 25 will delve into the issue of the current state of banking on Nevada.

Bill Uffelman, president/CEO of the Nevada Bankers Association will moderate the discussion, with panelists John Guedry, executive vice president, City National Bank; Stan Wilmoth, president, Heritage Bank; and Kevin Sullivan, executive vice president, Nevada State Bank. Dayton Chamber offers skills workshops

The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a series of workshops to enhance skills for local business people. The next session on March 11 deals with helping those seeking jobs, hiring and retaining quality employees. For more information, call 246-7909.

Carson Chamber cleanup

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce has gathered volunteers from the business community to assist the Carson City Parks & Recreation Department in keeping city's parks clean and litter free.

The first group of volunteers will clean Lone Mountain Park, off Roop Street. The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 assembling at the corner of Northridge and New Ridge. Volunteers will pick up trash, do trail maintenance and other needed tasks. Greater Nevada Credit Union is sending six volunteers.

Mobile recreation van to be unveiled by chamber

Chamber of Commerce Quality of Life Committee will unveil the Partnership Carson City Mobile Recreation Van on March 25 at 2 p.m. at the corner of Hot Springs Road and Northgate. This is a joint project between

Partnership Carson City, Boys and Girls Club, the Carson Chamber and Victory Christian Center. Those on hand will include Mayor Bob Crowell, Sheriff Kenny Furlong, District Attorney Neil Rombardo and Miss Nevada.
