The Western Nevada baseball team was swept in its second doubleheader Saturday to Southern Nevada just one day after doing the same to the Coyotes.

The Wildcats fell 8-5 and 5-1 on the road, losing their first games in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, dropping to 6-2 and 12-8 overall. WNC holds a one-game lead in the conference over CSN (5-3 SWAC, 13-11).

WNC defeated Southern Nevada 2-0 and 7-4 Friday.

In the first game, Nevada took a 3-0 lead, but CSN scored five runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.

Javy Perez got the start for the Wildcats, giving up three earned runs in 3.2 innings. Jeremy Gendlek came in during the fourth inning where he gave up four runs with three of them coming unearned.

An error by shortstop Daniel Zylstra with two outs opened the door for the Coyotes.

Gendlek couldn't get the final out and took the loss. Logan Odom came in and gave up one more earned run before getting the next batter to fly out.

In the second game, WNC was held to just four hits.

Lance Ray, who was leading the team with a .508 batting average coming into the series, went a combined 1-for-8 Saturday.

Also, the WNC softball team (4-16) dropped its two games Saturday at Southern Idaho, 25-1 and 20-0.

The Wildcats are in the midst of a 12-game losing streak.
