Breezy, snowy commute in Carson City

Weather for the Carson City area today will be brisk with numerous snow showers in the morning with mostly cloudy skies and isolated snow showers in the afternoon. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs 30-40 with northwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Tonight, clearing overnight with lows 13-23 with west winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the evening.

Tuesday, sunny in the morning becoming partly cloudy with highs 38-48 with northeast winds around 10 mph in the morning becoming light.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:56 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

Highway 395 " High wind warning in Washoe Valley. Campers and trailers prohibited for 6 miles between East Lake Boulevard and Winters Ranch.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 6.1 miles between 6.5 miles north of SR 28 and 11.9 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work continues on Little Lane between Saliman Road south Stewart Street, mainly between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., with lane restrictions on Little Lane west of South Roop Street.

Utility work is also being done on North Roop Street from East John to Long streets, and on Corbett street, west of North Roop.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House has posted lower speed limits with narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
